As you are probably aware Safeguarding has now become a major issue with local authorities. Many homes are being inspected by Safeguarding Teams as a result of any concerns that residents and families my have regarding safety in a care home. When a Safeguarding Team becomes involved so too does CQC and in some cases the outcome can be very serious for a care home business. Some business’s has seen as many as eight people from SG team, Social Services and CQC enter their home during the course of investigation. Often too homes can find their star rating reduced or even taken away. In some cases of investigation homes have found it very daunting and often confusion has arisen as to who came, what was discussed and what the action plan should be. In order to assist in this process HCA have devised a very simple interview form to help members establish an evidence trail based on the Adult Protection Level of Seriousness Tool. The interview form and the Seriousness tool document should be kept together, preferably on a clipboard so that when a team arrive the forms can be used. It is also important to understand that this form is to the benefit of all parties concerned to establish the right outcome from a Safeguarding issue. It is not designed in any way to be confrontational with inspectors but rather as a professional approach and a clear line of communication. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require help or advice with a a Safeguarding issue.
